18 Pound Onion!

September 24, 2012

18 lb.1 oz. is the weight of the world’s largest and heaviest onion harvested and presented by Peter Glazebrook at the Harrogate Autumn Flower Show in the UK on Sept. 14, 2012. Previous record was 17 lb. 15.5 oz., also set by Glazebrook.

The poor soul that has to peel that onion!

The chances are the chefs or chefs’ assistants at this year’s Ryder Cup feeding the teams will be dealing with normal size onions. There might be a few tears by the losing Ryder Cup team, but it won’t be due to an 18 lb. onion.
