Why You Don’t See White Residue on Glasses You Drink From at the Clubhouse Yet You See the White Film on Your Own Glasses at Home

October 20, 2012

There’s nothing more frustrating in the kitchen when you wash dishes in the dish washer using the right detergent and right “glass cleaning” additive and STILL the glasses come out with white residue on them. The culprit apparently is hard water.

Google comes to the rescue again. I googled describing the problem and the consensus answer: either add baking soda to the dishwasher or white vinegar to the dishwasher (small amounts suffice) or add both. So, I did. And to go for the gusto, I added both.

Lo and behold, it worked, and worked like a charm. Not only did my glasses come out sparkling clean, so did the silverware.

I have a feeling this is exactly what most clubhouse restaurants do at your favorite golf club or golf course, and what restaurants do in general. It’s easy, inexpensive and it works. Hopefully, those of you still “suffering” from this annoying problem now have a solution that will put a smile on your face.
